Superior Hiking Trail

The Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) is a 205-mile long footpath that follows the rocky ridgeline above Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota from Two Harbors to the Canadian border. The Superior Hiking Trail Association maintains the trail, and has an excellent website for information on the SHT.

I did my first trip on the SHT in Spring 2009 as part of my training for the July 2009 Rae Lakes Loop trip.
I really enjoyed the sections of the trail I have covered so far, and would like to section hike the entire trail. Since the trail is within driving distance, and allows dogs, I can do long weekends and bring my canine hiking buddy with me!

One of the resources available to hikers is the Superior Hiking Shuttle
I have used this service several times now. It is really convenient to get dropped off at the trailhead and hike back to my car! They also allow dogs on the shuttle so it worked out great. A little tight for my oversized German Shepherd, but it worked.
