Hiked down to Junction Meadow in the Kern Canyon. From this point until the end of the trail it is old familiar ground, having hiked these sections already on previous hikes.
From this point forward, the 'solitude' part of the Circle of Solitude is gone. The rest of the trail is heavily used by folks hiking the HST and JMT, and later on the Rae lakes Loop.
I climbed up out of Kern Canyon at the Wallace Creek Junction, (part of the High Sierra Trail), and then headed North when I hit the John Muir Trial.
As always, the Bighorn Plateau was unique and I love the scraggy dead trees against the barren landscape. Feels like an otherworldly scene from a movie.
I passed the Tyndall Creek Junction and the excellent campsites there as I wanted to get closer to Forester Pass and avoid the inevitable crowds at Tyndall Creek. I found a spot and dry camped with all the solitude I could wish for...
